NextDoor at Kingvale!

7/18/2021

To follow neighborhood news, post a found or lost pet, or ask about local services,  join the PlaVada neighborhood at NextDoor.

You'll need to register with a different email address from your primary residence but provide proof of residency (a bill with your name) and they'll add you to PlaVada too.

NextDoor can have trouble locating your Kingvale address in its system which uses Google and Google is not great with our streets and addresses! But click a link when signing up that says your address is not found and their support will add it and send you a link to join.

If more Kingvalians register, maybe we can request a name update to include Kingvale!

Where to find Fire Info

Yubanet.com shares fire news updates and is our favorite site for info on fires threatening or bringing smoke into our area. Read about regional fires and local or smaller fires.

The CalFire Incidents map only shares information about fires managed by CalFire and doesn't include those managed by the various National Forest Services in our area.

InciWeb brings together fire news from all organizations managing incidents.

If you use Twitter it's a great resource for finding fire news. Search on one of the fire hashtags and you'll find everyone reporting on a fire!

You can sign up and follow KingvaleNews on Twitter and see what sites we follow for updates!

Fire Safety - Measure T

7/8/2021

Here is an opportunity for local voters to state their view on the availability of locally-controlled funds for wildfire prevention on Donner Summit.

How does Measure T differ from previous attempts to raise revenue to fund fire prevention?

Measure T includes the following fiscal accountability protections:

  • All money raised by Measure T would be spent locally to provide fire protection and prevention services
  • No funds could be taken away by the State
  • An independent citizens’ oversight committee would ensure funds are spent as promised
  • An exemption from the cost of Measure T would be available for low-income residents
  • Measure T automatically expires after eight years and cannot be renewed without voter approval
